Bo Knows BBQ pit master Bo was raised at Ft. Chadbourne, TX, one of the frontier forts established to protect the settlers moving west and which was located on the old Butterfield Cattle Trail in West Texas. We were one of about 12 families that lived in company housing, furnished by the Humble Oil Company. The nearest town was located about 30 minutes away, so we learned to be frugal and to make our own entertainment.
For entertainment, a brick, wood burning bbq pit was built, and used for special occasions. We would bbq big hunks of beef, pork, venison or whatever game might be in season, or sometimes not in season. 
My mother taught me the proper use of spices and flavorings in the wonderful meals she would prepare.
Being this part of West Texas has a strong influence of Mexican and German families, I soon picked up the taste and ways of preparing their type of food also. The wonderful and spicy flavors of the Tex-Mex meals, the seasoned steaks and sausages of German cooking, the music, the drinks, and the cultures are all intertwined into our West Texas BBQ.
